Former CBS-TV prez Robert Wussler confirmed Tuesday that he is teamed with Bill Cosby in an effort to acquire NBC.
Wussler told Daily Variety that reports in recent weeks about a Wussler-Cosby partnership offer for the Peacock Web are true.
“I believe the stories as written are, in the main, correct,” he said.
Wussler made his comment at a press conference at which a task force called for wholesale revision of public TV.
Wussler, a member of the task force, declined further comment on the NBC offer.
In its August issue, Vanity Fair reported that Cosby and Wussler are stitching together a proposal to offer NBC parent General Electric about $ 4 billion for the network.
The offer, reportedly backed by several banks, is expected to be made this fall.
Wussler, a media consultant, did stints at TBS and Comsat Video after leaving CBS.
