Noel P. Parente, chief executive officer of Barr Media Group, died June 8 of heart failure at his home in Los Angeles. He was 52.
In 1989, Parente co-founded Full Service Entertainment with R. Alexander Bell; they merged their company with Barr Films to form Barr Media Group, a distributor of educational films, management and training programs.
Parente, a Frisco native, graduated from San Francisco State U., then studied acting at the Herbert Berghoff Studio in New York before moving to L.A., where he worked as a commercial actor.
During the 1970s, Parente worked in marketing, promotion, and production capacities for companies including Prince Street Prods., Famous Music Inc., TRO Publishing and Peer Southern Publishing.
Survived by his wife, Lani; a daughter, mother and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held today, 4 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 624 N. Rossmore, L.A. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in his name to the Sierra Club, 730 Polk Street, San Francisco 94109.
