Mezzo-soprano Tatiana Troyanos, 54, died Aug. 21 of cancer.

In 1963, the American singer made her debut at the New York City Opera as Hyppolyta in Benjamin Britten’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

In 1965, she joined the Hamburg State Opera in Germany. In 1976, she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Octavian in Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier.”

Her other roles include Carmen, Kundry in Wagner’s “Parsifal,” Eboli in Verdi’s “Don Carlo,” Santuzza in Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana,” and Cherubino in Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro.”

Last September, she created the role of Queen Isabella in Philip Glass’ new work “Voyage” at the Met.
