Photographer Leigh A. Wiener died May 11 in Los Angeles of a rare blood disease caused by radiation exposure while covering atomic tests for Life magazine.
He was 62. He was a co-host of the Emmy Award-winning TV series “Talk About Pictures” and created an acclaimed football documentary that inspired the “NFL Today” show. Wiener’s nine books included “Marilyn: A Hollywood Farewell.” He was the only person to photograph the living actress, the scene of her death, her body in the morgue and her funeral. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; a son and a sister.
