Don Bassman

Don Bassman, VP of special sound projects at 20th Century Fox, died of cancer Jan. 25.

He was 64.

He won an Academy Award for “Patton” in 1970 and an Emmy for “Eleanor and Franklin” in 1976.

He is survived by his wife, Marita, and children Todd, John, David, Cindy, Regina and Kelly.

A memorial service will be held today at 12:30 p.m. in the Old North Church, Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bassman’s name to the Cedars-Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center Patient Activity Fund, 8700 Beverly Blvd., L.A. 90048, Attn: Rene Wagner.
