SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — Alex Taylor, a recording artist whose siblings included musicians James, Livingston and Kate Taylor, died of a heart attack March 12.

Taylor, 47, suffered a heart attack March 7 while working on his third album at King Snake Records studio. He was comatose by the time he arrived at a hospital in Sanford and remained in a coma until he died.

Alex Taylor lived on Martha’s Vineyard for most of his life. A folk and rock musician who played the guitar, he had recorded two albums, “Dancing With the Devil” and “Family and Friends.”

Alex was the oldest of five Taylor children. James, Livingston and Kate are musicians with recorded albums; Hugh is the fire chief for Gay Head, Mass. Their parents are Dr. Issac Taylor of Boston and Gertrude Taylor of Chilmark.

Alex Taylor also is survived by his wife, Brent, 46, of West Tisbury, Mass., and son, James, his uncle’s namesake and the subject of James Taylor’s 1970 song “Sweet Baby James.”
