Showtime Networks has named Jerry Offsay programming president.
Offsay, who was exec VP of ABC Prods., will supervise original programming, program acquisitions, scheduling, business affairs and creative services.
He will report to Showtime chief operating officer Matt Blank.
At ABC Prods., Offsay, 40, supervised the production of network series, miniseries and telepix.
He also was president of indie RKO Pictures and has served as executive producer on several theatrical releases, including John Sayles’ “Eight Men Out.”
An attorney, Offsay started his career with the Los Angeles firm Loeb & Loeb, where he was involved in international film financing and film co-production.
Offsay, who will be based in Los Angeles when he begins his job in January, fills a new slot at Showtime.
“We needed a very senior executive in that slot,” Blank said. “Jerry will be aggressive in every aspect of programming, on co-production, the international front, everywhere we need to go to compete in the future.”
