Charles Lachman, exec managing editor on King World’s “Inside Edition,” will double as senior producer on the syndicator’s new magazine “American Journal,” while Sheila Sitomer has been upped from producer of “Edition” to senior producer. Lachman has been with the “Edition” team since its launch, while Sitomer came over from Fox’s “The Reporters.”
Beth Comstock will join NBC as VP, news information, effective Aug. 2, ankling as director of entertainment publicity at the CBS Broadcast Group in New York. Comstock joined CBS last year after two years at Turner Broadcasting. In the new post she’ll oversee all media relations for NBC News.
Richard Schell has been named VP, information systems, at ABC, responsible for info systems and voice and data communications at the network. Schell joins ABC from New York-based construction management outfit Turner Corp., where he’d been since 1983.
Alyson Dutch has joined Baker/Winokur/Ryder Public Relations as a senior account exec overseeing various entertainment and corporate clients. She previously oversaw in-house publicity at Madison Square Garden Event Prods.
Donna Slack was promoted to the post of veepee of Canadian media & co-op advertising for Columbia TriStar Films of Canada. Slack joined the org in 1980. She will remain in Toronto overseeing advertising for all feature film releases from Columbia and TriStar.
William Schereck has been named executive VP for broadcast operations and engineering at QVC Network. Schereck was previously veep for cable affiliates at the Fox Broadcasting Co. While at FBC, he set up Fox Net, the 24-hour cable network. Prior to Fox, Schereck was general manager of Fox affiliate WMSN in Madison, Wis.
Michel Papadaki has been promoted to VP for marketing and sales at Consolidated Film Laboratories. He was previously director of marketing at CFI.
Jennifer Rogers has been appointed VP of electronic publishing at Time Warner trade books division. Rogers was director of creative services and marketing at Warner New Media.
Jonathan M. Hogan has joined Fox Broadcasting Co. as senior manager, publicity, coordinating efforts for new late night series “The Chevy Chase Show” and various specials. Hogan was most recently at CBS, serving as senior publicist on “Murphy Brown” and “Hearts Afire.”
Sony Electronic Publishing Co., a unit of Sony Corp., named Glenn P. Sblendorio chief financial officer. Sblendorio was most recently VP of finance for Roche Molecular Systems Inc., a unit of Roche Holding AG’s Hoffmann-La Roche & Co.
Alexander von der Groeben will take over SAT 1’s sports news division Aug. 1. The post had been vacant for some time. Von der Groeben, a European judo champion, was with RTL.
Werner Brussau ankles his post as ZDF’s Rome correspondent to take over as news chief of 1A Brandenburg, the new regional web backed by Time Warner and other Yank investors.
Kai Blasberg takes over German sports web DSF’s newly founded marketing and sales division. Blasberg was a sales manager at concessionaire MGM, which DSF just dumped to sell its own ad time.
