The National Assn. of Recording Merchandisers has named Philips Electronics N.V. president Jan Timmer as the keynote speaker to its 35th annual convention, set for Orlando, Fla., March 6-9.
Timmer’s speech will focus on the globalization of the music industry and its impact on the retail community.
It will be part of the program for the convention’s general session March 7 .
“On the eve of the North American Free Trade Agreement and on the heels of the European Trade Agreements, I cannot think of a more fitting topic for this year’s convention, or a more appropriate speaker to cover the issue, than the CEO of one of the world’s premiere music and technology companies,” said NARM exec VP Pam Horovitz. “It is time for NARM and its members to analyze the way we do business from a globalperspective.”
