Paris Eley has been named senior VP of marketing at Motown Records, a rise from his former job as senior VP of R&B promotion.
Eley will be responsible for allareas of marketing.
He will report to Motown chief operating officer Harry Anger. Motown reorganized several departments last month, resulting in approximately 10 layoffs. Eley replaces former marketing head Pat Drosins. Eley’s former job is expected to be filled by James Cochran.
Eley has spent 29 years in the music industry, including 10 at CBS Records.
“Paris Eley has created one of the best R&B promotion staffs in the business, ” Motown president/CEO Jheryl Busby said. “He has demonstrated great leadership qualities and abilities with a creativity that will translate well to his new position.
“This is the primary step in a small reorganization that we have undergone and will bolster our efforts in writing Chapter II of Motown’s history.”
