Kermit, Harris on list for kids’ inaugural show

Kermit the Frog, Emmylou Harris and saxophonist Clarence Clemmons are just three of the many celebs who will be on hand for the Clinton/Gore inaugural salute to children Jan. 19 at the Kennedy Center.

The two one-hour specials, which will be broadcast live on the Disney Channel , will be hosted by Markie Post, actress on the CBS series “Hearts Afire,” and Will Smith, star of the NBC sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

Among the skedded performers for the Celebration for Children are Mr. Rogers, the Muppets, children’s crooner Raffi, Kermit the Frog, C&W entertainers Emmylou Harris and Roseanne Cash and the cast of the Disney Channel’s “Adventures in Wonderland.”

Joffrey to perform

The Celebration for Youth will follow, featuring Clemmons, Boyz II Men, Celine Dion, the Joffrey Ballet and the Disney Channel’s “Mickey Mouse Club.”

Hugh Martin and Paul Miller will direct the two programs for Disney. Executive producers are Jerry Hughes, Patrick Davidson and Brad Lachman.
