“War of the Buttons,” an upcoming pic starring mostly local tyke newcomers and a few grownup thesps, started filming earlier this month in rural West Cork, Ireland, WB announced Monday.
Holding up a mirror to the isle torn by the historical strife of adults, this story shows how kids from two neighboring County Cork towns fight each other in an ongoing battle for supremacy.
David Puttnam is producing the pic, which John Roberts helms. Based on a translation of a French novel, this Colin Welland-scripted project will be edited by David Freeman, with production design by Jim Clay. Bruno De Keyzer is director of photography.
“Buttons” is an Enigma production for Warner Bros. and Fujisankei Communications Group. The Japanese conglomerate is bankrolling several other indies with its $ 50 million overall production budget; among them is Studio City-based indie Outlaw Prods., which has a WB output deal. WB will distribute “Buttons.”
