Apparently unable to get a workable script before the end of TV hiatus, 20th Century Fox exex have placed the “Saturday Night Live” spinoff project “It’s Pat , the Movie” in turnaround, sources said.
The original script, penned by “Reservoir Dogs” writer-helmer Quentin Tarantino, chronicles the travails of the TV show’s androgynous character, Pat, as he/she tries to forge a career while being pursued by a relentless suitor.
Julia Sweeney, who portrays the plaid-shirted, giggling Pat on “SNL,” also was to star in the big-screen version.
Susan Cartsonis was set to exec produce and Charlie Wessler to produce for Fox.
Sources said a Tarantino rewrite came in late last week — reportedly without significant changes and too late to start production before Sweeney returns to “SNL” by mid-September.
New Line and Disney reportedly have started bidding on the script after Fox let it go. Neither studio had any comment. Fox reps also could not be reached for comment.
