Nickelodeon Pictures announced Thursday that it has hired Adam Merims as its West Coast head, in charge of the new movie production arm.
Previously employed by director Andrew Bergman and producer partner Mike Lobell, Merims was involved in such pictures as “Honeymoon in Vegas,””White Fang ,””Undercover Blues” and the baseball pic in development “Little Big League.”
Merims becomes a key player in Nickelodeon’s two-year, first-look deal to develop and produce movies with 20th Century Fox. It is anticipated that Nickelodeon will follow its children’s programming roots on its way to the big screen.
The pact between Nick and Fox was sealed in May.
Merims will report to Debby Beece — Viacom Entertainment’s president of television programming and production. He’ll ankle Lobell Bergman in the next two weeks to vacation at an island resort. The 31-year-old mover and shaker takes office at Nick Aug. 2.
