‘Kalifornia’ wins R on appeal

Republic Pictures Corp. release “Kalifornia” was changed from an NC-17 to an R rating on appeal, according to the 1,279th bulletin from the Classification and Rating Administration of the Motion Picture Association of America.

As previously reported, Orion Pictures’ “Boxing Helena” also earned an R on appeal (Daily Variety, July 26).

Savoy Pictures’ debut release, “A Bronx Tale,” also copped an R.

Of the 17 movies rated, 12 received Rs, two received PG-13s, two PGs and one a G.

Of 12 movies rated in bulletin No. 1,278, 11 received Rs and one was rated PG-13.
