Twentieth Century Fox is moving to flesh out its family slate, signing a development deal with Stuart T. Gillard to rewrite and direct “Mom Is a Treasure Hunter.”
Gillard recently wrote and directed “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Turtles Are Back … in Time.”
Though Fox had no comment, the pic is described as an adventure story about a woman who goes on vacation with her family only to find herself in the midst of a foreign escapade involving imperiled children and hidden treasure — something along the lines of “Romancing the Stone.”
While the deal is in its early stages, sources say that production should get under way next year once Fox exex give the green light to Gillard’s script.
The project was originally sold to Fox as a spec script, with Gillard then being brought in to reconceptualize it.
Gillard recently ankled APA to move to ICM, where he’s being represented by Steve Rabineau.
Sources say initial plans are to shoot the pic on location, possibly in Europe and Israel.
