Capitalizing on the building interest in anything having to do with dinosaurs after the success of “Jurassic Park,” Paramount Home Video announced that initial orders for its “Prehysteria” have exceeded 63,000 units. The figure sets a new record for a Par direct-to-videocassette release. While “Prehysteria” does concern dinosaurs, the film is targeted at the 8-and-younger set, many of whom have not been able to see “Jurassic Park.” The video will be released June 30 as a rental only.

The Canadian industry cooperative BBM Bureau of Measurement has committed $ 1 million toward the second phase of Arbitron’s pocket people meter system. The Toronto-based BBM announced its intention to measure at least two Canadian markets with passive meter technology by spring 1995. Arbitron plans to deploy the new technology in two U.S. markets by the end of next year. The new system makes continuous electronic ratings measurement possible by sensing inaudible codes embedded in radio and TV soundtracks.

CBS will double-run the new series “Johnny Bago” in its latenight “Crime Time After Prime Time” lineup starting June 30 and its regular prime time berth, which starts June 25. The show will air Fridays at 10 p.m. and repeat Wednesdays at 11:35 p.m. through the summer, bumping the latenight show “Dangerous Curves.”

Lensing began Friday on the Columbia Pictures and Imagine Films Entertainment production “My Girl 2.” The film, which reunites cast members Anna Chlumsky, Jamie Lee Curtis and Dan Aykroyd, is exec produced by David Friendly and Joe Caraciola and scripted by Janet Kovalcik. The film will be released by Columbia Pictures in 1994.

Production partners Calico Entertainment and the Imagination Factory have announced plans to produce an animated series based on Zorro, to premiere in 1994. Imagination Factory holds licensing rights to Zorro in the U.S. Calico has handled animation on such shows as “Widget” and “The Mr. Bogus Show.”

Spanish-language network Telemundo will introduce “Studio X,” an entertainment news program with a home-shopping element, Monday. The show, which will air three times a week on the six Telemundo-owned stations, is being produced by Trident Entertainment in association with Tri-Crown Prods.

The second annual Hollywood Bowl Arts Fair is skedded 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at the Hollywood Bowl. The event is presented by the Los Angeles Philharmonic in association with the Hollywood Arts Council.

Ross Perot will be the keynote speaker at the National Assn. of Broadcasters radio convention Sept. 9 in Dallas. The NAB expects 7,000 attendees at the Sept. 8-11 confab.

Producer Bud Yorkin has established a masters film fellowship at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, awarding $ 15,000 to fully fund one thesis film project. The first recipient is Francisco Velasquez to shoot his project, “Jacaranda.” Yorkin’s credits include TV series such as “All in the Family” and “Maude” in conjunction with Norman Lear and the features “Twice in a Lifetime” and “Divorce American Style.”
