NBC and Times Mirror Cable have reached a multiyear retransmission consent agreement that renews and extends carriage of CNBC and calls for a launch of the web’s new America’s Talking service. The agreement also gives Times Mirror distribution rights to NBC’s 24-hour Spanish-language news service, “Canal de Noticias,” once it’s made available in the U.S.

EMI Records Group announced a joint venture with Rogli Entertainment under which ERG will acquire 50% interest in Pendulum Records.
Pendulum prexy/CEO Ruben Rodriguez will oversee operations. Pendulum, whose artists include Digable Planets, Lisa Lisa and Lords of the Underground, is expected to release at least seven albums in the next year.

NBC has acquired the entire capacity of SBS 4, a Ku-band satellite owned and operated by Hughes Communications. Financial terms of the long-term transponder lease agreement were not disclosed. NBC will begin using the capacity on a full-time basis by September 1995.

Blockbuster Entertainment Corp. will spend about $ 280 million over the next five years to open 280 more stores throughout Mexico, company officials said. Officials said the company currently has 56 stores throughout Mexico and will open another 34 by year’s end.
