Basic cabler Nostalgia Network reported a second-quarter net loss of $ 359, 000 (3 cents per share), an improvement from a loss of $ 682,000 a year earlier. Astral Communications Inc. has reached an accord with Lyons Group of Allen, Texas, the production company for the Barney the dinosaur character, making Astral the exclusive distributor and manufacturer of Barney videos in Canada, according to Harold Greenberg, Astral chief executive. The Barney videos are created exclusively for homevideo distribution and are distinct from the Barney programs aired on public television in the United States, according to Astral officials.
