Di Stefano seeks visa

A former Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/Pathe executive is seeking a federal court declaration that would allow him to return to the U.S. as a businessman/visitor despite a 1992 deportation.

Giovanni Di Stefano, in a petition filed in U.S. District Court in L.A., said that despite a favorable recommendation by an Immigration & Naturalization Service rep in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, his current address, his petition for a “waiver of inadmissibility” was denied by the INS district director at Rome’s American Embassy.

Di Stefano said the denial came last April after three months of silence and “rude responses” and may have been made without the benefit of his personal file.

Di Stefano’s petition says he has made frequent visits to the U.S. since 1974 as a non-immigrant visitor/businessman and “as a major international figure in the motion picture industry.” He is married to an L.A. resident.
