Lisa Rieffel has reportedly been cast as Emily, the previously unseen daughter on the Disney/Witt-Thomas-Harris series “Empty Nest,” filling a void left by the leave-of-absence taken by Kristy McNichol (Daily Variety, Oct. 6).
Rieffel was most recently a regular on the CBS series “The Trials of Rosie O’Neill.”
Producers of the long-running NBC series had said they may fill the role of Emily–referred to but never seen during the show’s first four seasons–to help offset the gap left by McNichol, who is on an open-ended hiatus on the advice of her doctors.
Production had been completed on about 10 episodes before McNichol left and six have aired thus far. “Empty Nest” has been renewed through the 1993-94 season.
