Facing a shift to 1 a.m. on WWOR-TV, Multimedia has opted to take “Rush Limbaugh” to WNYW-TV, where the station will change its schedule to accommodate the talker at 11 a.m.
Starting Nov. 16, “Limbaugh” will air in the earlier time period. As a result , WNYW will move reruns of “Matlock” from its 11 a.m. berth to noon.
WWOR had been airing “Limbaugh” at 12:30 a.m..
“Good Day New York Street Talk,” the station’s recently launched noon news show, will air at 11:30 a.m. following “Limbaugh” with the station expected to drop reruns of “Family Ties” now airing at 12:30 p.m.
“Good Day New York Street Talk” launched in October and has yet to catch on with Gotham viewers. Indeed, for the first half of the month, WNYW aired “Mama’s Family,” which generated a 2.4/10, according to Arbitron’s figure for the period. “Good Day” has averaged a 1.5, according to Nielsen statistics since its debut.
The Fox-owned outlet’s noon news faced tough competition from cross-town rival WCBS, which dominates the half-hour. WWOR also airs news programming at noon. By moving “Good Day” to 11:30 a.m., WNYW creates a smoother block with “Limbaugh” as a lead-in and takes “Good Day” out of the battle.
