Nobel Peace Prize winner and indigenous-peoples-rights activist Rigoberta Menchu and a group of Hollywood celebrities will dramatize world hunger at the third Oxfam America Hollywood Hunger Banquet at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 at Santa Monica Air Center’s Barker Hanger.
The event is designed to depict the unequal distribution of food and resources that are the root causes of worldwide hunger.
Participants in the event are divided into three groups–15% receive a gourmet meal, 25% share a simple meal and 60% wait in line for rice and water.
Skedded to participate in Oxfam America Hollywood Hunger Banquet are Jason Priestley, Lisa Bonet, Edward James Olmos, Jon Voight, Amanda Plummer, Johnny Clegg and Lou Diamond Phillips.
The event will be hosted by TriStar chairman Mike Medavoy and Show Coalition’s Patricia Duff Medavoy. Actor Mike Farrell will receive the Oxfam America Partners Award.
