Fox Trots Out Emmycast Early

Fox Broadcasting Co. is moving the primetime Emmy Awards telecast up to Aug. 25 – three weeks earlier than its usual mid-September date – in an effort to increase viewership levels after broadcasting the lowest-rated Emmys ever last fall.

The move was taken without formal approval from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Fox, however, has final say under its three-year, $9.5 million ATAS contract.
