Herman L. Ripps

Herman L. Ripps, 82, retired MGM sales executive, died Jan. 29 of pneumonia in Santa Monica, Calif.

Ripps started at MGM in 1928 as a theater checker and retired in 1971 as assistant general sales manager.

He was active in the Variety Club in NEW YORK and Los Angeles. During World War II, he worked with the Variety Club USO headquarters.

Survived by two sons, Paul, v.p. at New Line Cinema, and Michael, a film editor; a daughter, Hilary, a production executive at Chanticleer Films; and a sister, Beatrice Bennett.
