The Intl. Executive Board of the American Federation of Musicians has appointed Steve Sprague its secretary-treasurer. Sprague assumes the office left vacant by Kelly Castleberry, who died Dec. 18.
Sprague’s appointment is effective immediately. He will serve until the biennial convention of the AFM, to be held in Las Vegas June 21. All nine members of the Intl. Executive Board will stand for election at that time.
Sprague has served as exec assistant to AFM prexy J. Martin Emerson since November 1987. During that time he was responsible for the general supervision of various presidential departments of the union’s U.S. central office locations in New York and Los Angeles.
The AFM has 200,000 members and 400 locals in the U.S. and Canada.
