In its second round, “Out For Justice” fended off Columbia’s newcomer “Mortal Thoughts” to retain the No. 1 spot. Seagal made $942,105 to Willis and Moore’s $908,298. “Defending Your Life” was bumped to third place, though it remained consistent.

Orion’s long-running “The Silence Of The Lambs” topped the fast-fading “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II.” And the ancient “Dances With Wolves” surpassed Buena Vista’s flop “The Marrying Man.”

Further down the list, “The Object Of Beauty” slipped to $89,728 in its second week, but “The Long Walk Home” expanded again in its 18th stroll, increasing its total to $76,499. Near the bottom was African American Images’ “Up Against The Wall,” which took in $22,290 in its debut at 27 screens.

New exclusives didn’t fare well either: Cinevista’s “Forever Mary” earned $12,294 at Village East, and Hemdale’s “Requiem For Dominic” pocketed $12,005 at the Angelika and Cinema 3. Off to a better start was Castle Hill’s “John Cassavetes Collection,” tallying $4,055 in two days at Cinema 3rd Avenue.

“Paris Is Burning” at Film Forum still draws a trendy crowd, who shelled out $35,943. And uptown at the Beekman, James Lapine’s “Impromptu” enjoyed a strong second week with $35,013.
