Breakin’

Breakin' is the first feature film entirely devoted to the breakdancing craze.

With:
Lucinda Dickey Adolfo Quinones Michael Chambers Ben Lokey Christopher McDonald Phineas Newborn III

Breakin’ is the first feature film entirely devoted to the breakdancing craze.

On a plot level, concoction is too derivative of Flashdance for its own good, as the premise once again is untrained, but highly skilled and imaginative, street dancers versus the stuffy, inflexible dance establishment.

Filmmakers have also played it safe in focusing the action on a nice, middle-class white girl (Lucinda Dickey), whereas breakdancing is almost exclusively the domain of blacks and Latinos.

Aside from these fainthearted choices, however, film is quite satisfactory and breezily entertaining on its own terms.
