Firepower

Firepower is one of those international action thrillers designed to combine a top-name cast with lots of shooting and explosions so the story [by Bill Kerby and Michael Winner] can be followed regardless of whether you understand the language.

Firepower is one of those international action thrillers designed to combine a top-name cast with lots of shooting and explosions so the story [by Bill Kerby and Michael Winner] can be followed regardless of whether you understand the language.

Though competent with chases and gunfire, producer-director Michael Winner handles the dialog scenes as if the most significant thing in the world were sunglasses.

Beautiful Sophia Loren believes her chemist husband was murdered at the order of Stegner (George Touliatos), a wealthy, seclusive industrialist. She persuades the Justice Department, who also wants Stegner, to put the pressure on mobster Eli Wallach to entice retired hitman James Coburn to – get Stegner.

If the story becomes too tough or tiresome to follow, or the action grows tepid and repetitive, there’s always the beautiful scenery of the glamorous Caribbean locales.
