Viva Knievel!

In the most daring feat of his career, Evel Knievel leaps over a mountain of blazing cliches and a cavernous plot, somehow landing upright to the predictable cheers of his legions of fans.

In the most daring feat of his career, Evel Knievel leaps over a mountain of blazing cliches and a cavernous plot, somehow landing upright to the predictable cheers of his legions of fans.

Actually, Evel the actor emerges from the wreck in better shape than the bent careers of his veteran co-stars, Gene Kelly, Marjoe Gortner, Red Buttons, Lauren Hutton and Leslie Nielsen. For him, it’s a chance to show he can be fairly natural in front of the camera when the demands are minimal; for them, it’s a credit best forgotten.

Plot: evil Leslie Nielsen will lure the leaper to Mexico where he’ll kill Knievel and steal his red-white-and-blue truck, substituting an identical red-white-and-blue truck whose sides are packed with illegal white powder.
