Shivers

Shivers, a low-budget Canadian production, is a silly but moderately effective chiller about creeping parasites that systematically (and comically) 'infect' an entire highrise population with nothing less than sexual hysteria.

Premise of pic is a bit shaky. A mad doctor who believes in matter over mind has implanted in his teenage mistress a strange parasite that brings out the basest of human impulses. He’s not the only one she fools around with, so before long, the ‘disease’ is spreading like crazy.

The star of the movie is special effects and makeup man Joe Blasco, whose bloody, disgusting-looking crawlers are seen climbing out of people’s throats as well as highrise plumbing to attack innocents.
