Susan Sarandon talked politics with Variety at the Cannes Film Festival, voicing her support for Bernie Sanders and slamming the media’s (lack of) coverage of his race for the Democratic nomination against Hillary Clinton.
She also touched on Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee. She explained that much of what he wants to do is “impossible” — it’s his impact on the culture that is “terrible,” the actress said.
“What he did that was terrible is that he legitimized racism and homophobia and everything else in order to get that very discontented base,” she said. “[He] said it was okay to be violent.”
