Scott Pelley Defends Calling Trump Statements ‘Divorced From Reality’

David Muir, Lester Holt, and Scott Pelley, who cover this week’s issue of Variety, discussed being the voices of reason
that many in America think is sorely needed right now.

Pelley defended his description of Donald Trump statements being “divorced from reality.”

“I don’t think we were being too hard at all; it was just empirically true,” he said. “The president had said a number of things that day that were false. I think it’s incumbent upon us — all of us, we all believe this — to help our audience sort out fact from fiction.”
