Octavia Spencer Calls for Increase in African American, Asian, Latino-Led Films

In our video series “Variety Uncovered Presented by Dermstore,” Power of Women L.A. honoree Octavia Spencer reveals how her battle with dyslexia led to her involvement with City Year and discusses the lack of diversity in the movie industry.

“I’m dyslexic, I’ve met geniuses who are dyslexic so I wanted to be a part of an organization that really, really fostered that type of relationship between learning and gaining confidence,” she said.
