Hugh Grant on Being a Control Freak: I Was Like ‘Barbra Streisand in Trousers’

Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell talked about how their careers have changed over the years during Season 5 of Variety and PBS’ “Actors on Actors.”

“Once I got the power, I then became very interfering behind the camera as well,” Grant said. “Barbra Streisand in trousers, I was. I was just awful. Everything down to how the poster works, but I’m better about that now.”

The “Florence Foster Jenkins” actor said his diva tendencies mostly revolved around how comedies are edited.

“It’s such a fragile thing, jokes,” he said. “It only takes one tiny thing and suddenly the laugh is lost.”

The interview will air in its entirety on Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” Season 5, presented by The Venetian Las Vegas, which debuts on PBS SoCal on Jan. 3.
