Gayle King on Covering Trump: ‘Two Plus Two Doesn’t Always Equal Four’

Gayle King, one of this week’s Variety cover stars, shared seven secrets with us.

The “CBS This Morning” co-host, who supports the New York nonprofit Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, discuses her hatred for buttons, why she doesn’t Google herself, how “This Is Us” restores “humanity, kindness, and goodness,” and her experience working as a journalist in the Trump era.

“I think it’s challenging because the White House has a job to do and we have a job to do,” she said. “I think that it’s frustrating sometimes where two plus two doesn’t always equal four, but the fact is two plus two really is four. So I think it’s a challenge to cover a story that always seems to be changing — even when you have photographic evidence, audio evidence, there’s always a different story.”
