Gael Garcia Bernal: 'You Have to Fall in Love' With People You Make a Movie With

Director Joan Chemla and star Gael Garcia Bernal stopped by the Variety Studio Presented by AT&T at the Toronto Film Festival to talk about their new movie, “If You Saw His Heart.”

During the interview, Bernal shared a very “personal” belief: that he falls in love with those he makes films with, in a sense.

“You have to fall in love with the people that you’re doing the film with. I fell in love with Joan. I say it openly,” he said. “It is a very personal point of view. It is definitely, I mean, if we have to define it with obvious concepts, but it is an auteur’s movie. It is Joan’s point of view that comes across in everything during the film.”
