Ewan McGregor Reflects on Watching His Directorial Debut Flop at the Box Office: 'That Changed Me'

Ewan McGregor told Nicole Kidman how it felt to watch his directorial debut, “American Pastoral,” flop at the box office during Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series.

“That’s something that changed me in a way,” he said, adding that the experience was different from that of a movie in which he only acted. “In this case, because it was a film that I had made, I found it very hard to deal with — the fact that people didn’t go to see it a lot in the cinema.”

The interview will air in its entirety on Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” Season 6, presented by Shutterstock, which premieres June 13 on PBS SoCal.
