Vice Chairman, NBC Universal
As the son of immigrants who fled Nazi Germany, Meyer felt an obligation to give back to the country that literally saved his parents’ lives. That’s why, just before he turned 18, he joined the Marine Corps. “People are dedicated, in one form or another, to protecting the country,” he says. “Without them, we couldn’t exist the way we exist. I think it’s extraordinary.” Meyer’s training has carried over well into his career in the entertainment industry. “You learn a great sense of teamwork. You learn a sense of organization, and you learn things that you think are somewhat impossible to accomplish can be accomplished.”
Through his work at NBCUniversal, which has been consistently recognized as a top veteran-friendly company, Meyer is involved in partnerships with more than a dozen veterans programs, including Got Your 6, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Veterans in Film & Television.
