Second unit director Impact: Travels the globe working on big pics, including “Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Avengers,” “Green Lantern” and “Snow White and the Huntsman. “In the last 12 months, I think I’ve had four days at home,” he laughs.

Second unit director/stunt coordinator Impact: The veteran stuntman has a blast staging big action set pieces for tentpole films such as “Fast & Furious 6,” “X-Men: First Class,” “Total Recall” and “Fast Five.” While he wouldn’t mind directing a film himself, he only wants to do it “with people who enjoy the filmmaking process and not the business end,” he says.

Director of photography/second unit Impact: In “After Earth” he worked to show a hostile planet from the perspective of a teen; for “August: Osage County” he filmed sunrises from within a house to underscore a character’s claustrophobia. “The challenge,” he says, “is not to make things look like traditional landscapes.”

Stunt coordinator/ screenwriter/director Impact: This year, secured Chinese financing for his “Urban Games” screenplay, catapulting him to the above-the-line category — and putting him in the rare category of being an American director helming a Chinese-language film. “It’s the Wild West of filmmaking there,” he says, adding he’s just signed a five-year producer-director deal with the China Film Group.

Assistant director Impact: Re-creating seminal events in a foreign country left no room for error on “Argo,” the latest in a string of films he’s been drawn to for their social relevance. “The logistics of ‘Argo,’ including shooting in Istanbul, and the cultural differences, could have been overwhelming but because of Ben Affleck’s positive attitude it proved to be an incredibly smooth operation,” Webb says. He shared a DGA award with Affleck.

Second unit/ assistant director Impact: He’s made the last three “Fast and Furious” entries with director Justin Lin. “Furious 6” involved maneuvering cars up a runway and into a plane, a complex combo shot requiring CG and stage work. “There was a lot of head-scratching to figure out what to do,” he admits. “It was a group effort.”
