This wouldn’t be Pattinson’s first run as the romantic lead in a wildly popular book-series-turned-movie, as his role in “Twilight” as vampire Edward Cullen thrust him into superstardom. Also, according to a recent Tweet from novelist Bret Easton Ellis, Pattinson was E.L. James’ first choice.

The English model and actor gained a loyal fanbase after roles in “I Am Number Four,” “Beastly” and “Magic Mike.” It’s possible that Pettyfer might be a little too busy to star in this franchise, though, as it’s been rumored that he may be considered to appear in “Star Wars: Episode VII.”

Us Weekly reported that the star, known for roles in “On the Road,” “Tron: Legacy” and “Troy,” rejected the possibility because the trilogy would be too big a commitment.
