The Season 8 runner-up may have been a bit too eccentric for America to land a win at the time (the title went to Arkansas-bred Kris Allen), but Adam Lambert certainly made his mark in “Idol’s” history.
The goth-appearing pop/electric rocker stunned with his rendition of “Mad World,” becoming the only contestant at the time to bring Simon Cowell to a standing ovation.
Even though he lost, Lambert has had immense success since his “Idol” days both in music and on TV. He had a recurring arc on “Glee,” bringing him back to the Fox family in 2013-14, and nowadays, he’s riding the charts with singles from his third album such as “Ghost Town,” which reached the Billboard Top 40.
Oh, and he’s been collaborating with Queen as lead vocalist since 2011.
