Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film
The Brits have had a special connection with Robert Downey Jr. ever since 1992’s “Chaplin” (for which he was Oscar-nominated).
“Robert Downey Jr. played one of Britain’s early exports, Charlie Chaplin,” says Nigel Daly, topper of BAFTA/LA.
The film was directed by another Brit export, Richard Attenborough, who died earlier this year.
Downey has essayed a few other Brits, including the iconic Sherlock Holmes and the Singing Detective.
The actor, who can be seen with Robert Duvall in “The Judge,” will appear in “Avengers 2” next.
