Paradigm chairman and CEO Sam Gores spoke of the need to embrace new business models and opportunities Thursday ayem during Variety's Business Managers Elite Breakfast at the BevWilshire. "Today, everybody is a brand," Gores said during his convo with Variety's Tim Gray. "An actor is not just an actor, a director is not just a director ... They're really entire businesses."Veteran business manager Mickey Segal was also feted at the event for his philanthropic work.
Sam Gores founded entertainment talent agency Paradigm in 1992. He oversees the company’s offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Monterey, Nashville, Austin, New York, Toronto and London.
Over the years, Gores has consistently sought out new business models and opportunities and has grown his company by further acquiring niche agencies and diversifying Paradigm’s client base. In 2014, he acquired a 50% stake in the Coda Music Agency; Gores further expanded the firm’s European reach by partnering with X-ray Touring and Ron Burkle’s Yucaipa in April 2017. Paradigm first became a player in the music industry by purchasing Monterey Peninsula Artists (Dave Matthews Band, Phish) in 2004 and Little Big Man (Coldplay, The Fray) in 2006.

Gores launched his career at The Gage Group in 1977. He left to open his own agency, SGA Representation, in 1986. After acquiring a number of agencies over the years, he eventually founded Paradigm. The Israel-born agent attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.
