Partner / Director / Producer

Anthony Russo is one-half — with older brother Joe — of the red-hot directing team that made their Marvel Studios directorial debut with the critically lauded $715 million box office blockbuster “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” They followed up that success with an even bigger box office monster — “Captain America: Civil War,” which grossed more than $1.1 billion globally, making it the biggest-grossing film of 2016 and the 12th-highest-grossing film in history. The Cleveland-born brothers began filmmaking in the mid-1990s using credit cards and student loans to finance “Pieces,” an experimental comedy that screened at the Slamdance and AFI festivals in 1997 and caught the attention of Steven Soderbergh, who produced their second film, the 2002 crime comedy “Welcome to Collinwood,” along with producing partner George Clooney. The Russos, whose credits include the TV shows “Arrested Development” and “Community,” are currently working on “Avengers: Infinity Wars,” parts one and two. Brother directing teams are “rare,” admits Anthony, “and for us it’s very much a function of personality and process. We like to collaborate on everything, so we have no formal divisions on where we each like to focus, and we like to put our brains together on every aspect of a project. We just have a nonstop dialogue.”
