This Week in Entertainment 1980
John Lennon was shot to death outside the building where he lived in New York on Dec. 8, 1980. The former Beatle and solo artist was coming home from the Record Plant Studio just before 11 p.m. with his wife, Yoko Ono, when he was met by Mark David Chapman, who has asked Lennon for an autographer earlier in the day. Chapman shot Lennon four times in the back and shoulder. Many witnesses reported that at the moment Lennon was pronounced dead at Roosevelt Hospital shortly after 11 p.m., the Beatles song “All My Loving” started playing over the hospitals PA system.
