The Week in Entertainment 1994

Kurt Cobain, the frontman for the grunge band Nirvana, shot himself to death at his Seattle home on April 5, 1994. He was just 27 years old. Cobain founded the band with Krist Novoselic in 1987, and Nirvana found great success with “Smells Like Teen Spirit” from their second album, “Nevermind.” In the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with heroin addiction, health issues and depression, and expressed having difficulty coping with fame. He left a lengthy suicide note in which is professed his love for wife Courtney Love and their baby daughter Frances. Following his death, sales of the band’s albums soared.
