The section, open to any fest program film that touches on the theme, was first held in association with the Berlinale's Teddy sidebar a few years ago.
In other changes, the festival, which offers a top prize of $10,000, has this year widened its selection criteria to include digital as well as film-format entries for its student and short film competition.
"Last year, many films were rejected; this year's rule will bring even more fresh films. The step is essential for Ukrainian filmmakers, who will now have more possibilities to present their talent at Molodist," program director Mila Novikova said.
More than 1,000 films have been submitted or recommended to the fest's selection committee, she said, of which 300 would be programmed.
The festival will screen 60 films across its three competition sections -- features, shorts and student films.
Sidebars will include a retrospective of the work of French actress Jeanne Moreau and Prague Spring 68, a special program of documentaries dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Czechoslovakia's attempt to take a democratic path that ended with a Soviet-led armored occupation of the country.
