20th delivers 'Fed X' spec

Jackman to produce with Seed partner Palermo

Twentieth Century Fox has acquired the Dario Scardapane spec script "Fed X" as a star vehicle for Hugh Jackman, who'll produce with his Seed Production partner John Palermo.

Deal reps Fox's second significant material buy for Seed in the past month, after the studio set up the Jennifer Robinson-Dyanne Stempel romantic comedy pitch "Rebound Guy."

In "Fed X," Jackman will play a green FBI agent sent to Miami to retrieve a criminal for prosecution. During the return trip, the fed and the thug each learn there's more to the other than expected.

Fox's Emma Watts and Hutch Parker will oversee the project along with Seed exec Amanda Schweitzer.

The studio inked Jackman and Palermo with a first-look deal as an outgrowth of the relationship on the "X-Men" sequel "X3" and the spinoff film "Wolverine" that the studio is developing with scribe David Benioff.

Jackman and Palermo are producing the spinoff with Lauren Shuler Donner and Avi Arad.

Jackman and Palermo also have a deal to develop musicals at Disney with producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and they recently bought the Cecilia Ahern novel "If You Could See Me Now" to be turned into a tuner vehicle for the Tony-winning "The Boy From Oz" star.

Scardapane, who last worked for Fox on "Fantastic Voyage," recently made a deal to turn the Hong Kong film "Cheung Fo" into Peter Berg-directed drama "The Mission" at Universal. He's also writing Los Angeles crime drama pilot "Faceless" for Fox Broadcasting, Management 360 and Flame TV. Joe Carnahan will direct the pilot and exec produce with Scardapane.
