TV Ratings: Megyn Kelly’s Alex Jones Interview Sees No Lift on Sunday Night

TV Ratings: Megyn Kelly's Alex Jones
NBC News

Megyn Kelly’s controversial interview with Alex Jones failed to rise above previous installments of Kelly’s new NBC News show in the Sunday overnight ratings.

According to Nielsen data, the new installment of “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly” averaged a 0.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers, airing at 7 p.m. The previous two episodes of the freshman news show have averaged a 0.7 and 4.9 million viewers.

Kelly lost in the timeslot in both measures against both the U.S Golf Open Championship (1.4, 6.1 million) on Fox and a rerun of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (0.7, 3.7 million) on ABC. She tied with a rerun of “60 Minutes” in the demo, but the CBS news magazine topped her in total viewers with 5.3 million.

Many were critical of Kelly’s decision to interview Jones, who has stated he believes the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre was a hoax, among many other conspiracy theories. Jones himself even complained publicly about the interview, claiming that Kelly misrepresented his take on Sandy Hook. He leaked the full audio of the interview on last Thursday.

NBC aired only repeats during the rest of Sunday primetime.

CBS aired repeats, while Fox aired the U.S Golf Open Championship and a new episode of “American Grit” (0.6, 1.8 million).

ABC and Fox tied for first place in the demo with a 1.0, but ABC was first in total viewers with 4.9 million. Fox was third in total viewers with 3.9 million. NBC was third in the demo with a 0.6 but fourth in viewers with 2.6 million. CBS was fourth in the demo with a 0.4 but second in total viewers with 4.3 million.

They are two of the same might have watch if they had both got nude in a hot tub. Both a joke.
Just two idiots on the same planet of has bins. I rather watch grapes being pick in slow motion.

  2. She didn’t know it then, but We The AMERICAN PATRIOTS Knew she was destined to failure when she attacked Trump rather than perform her duties as a moderator during the campaign.
She was then, and is now, a person of limited analytical abilities.
If she doesn’t bow out now with some dignity, she will eventually be fired without any dignity at all.
Simply put, she hasn’t got ‘what it takes’.

  3. Dunstan says:

Megyn Kelly can put her head between her legs and kiss her ass goodbye – and that goes for any and all programming she’s allegedly going to be involved in at NBC.

  4. Hugh Mungus says:

Cupcake is the best Pravda errr, I mean NBC hire since Tiki Barber.

  5. Jewel logan says:

So sad that Meghann is such a sad case. NBC so glad you have her to add to your “high level” news team. You are all so sad and pathetic that she adds to that grandeur! Keep it up we are all abandoning you and your faker than fake news. Keep up the terrible work good job. Meghann, keep going and accuse someone at NBC for noticing your “bras”. No man does that as they do not care about lingerie so stupid of you and so sad. maybe that is why you were on drugs and caught taking drugs to clear your conscience?

  6. Mark S says:

When will America wake up and realize we are not only being manipulated by the press and Hollywood but we are being extorted by them as well. Take. Look at the BILLIONS OF $ in advertisement they spend. Who gets that money and where does it come from. It’s extorted from us by way of higher prices. Prices we have no control over. Paying $3 for a roll of paper towels that cost 20cents to manufacture. The 6 companies controlling 90% of our media receive those funds so they can pay people like Kelly and Clooney millions of dollars a year to say what they w t them to say. Look at the commercial Tom Seleck does for the reverse mortgage company. Are we so stupid to believe that Seleck has actually even considered a reverse mortgage and why would he even need to after receiving his $1 million Check for being in those ads. Where did that $1 million come from. The people who fall for his BS and get a reverse mortgage only to pay a point higher because someone has to pay his salary. Think for one moment. They have us by the balls. We have no choice but to pay those high prices. From tissue to TV commercials to Medications. WE are FORCED to pay those high prices and subject ourselves to “legal extortion”.

  7. Earl W Shelton says:

In a sense, Kelly’s show was America’s Funniest Home Video: One ex-conspiracy theorist interviewing its foremost one. What could go wrong?

  8. TraciLawrenceHill says:

The bots r going crazy in the comments. These knuckle draggers need to be exposed n put on front street. If u keep them in that safe bubble more n more people tend to believe that nonsense. We can’t be afraid to fight dirty too. The left is way to soft n sensitive to win elections in this climate.

  9. Aaron says:

    We love you ALEX

  10. MMGeneral says:

If I wanted to hear from Alex Jones, I would watch his show or visit InfoWars. I do neither because I couldn’t care less about him or his ridiculous conspiracy theories and don’t want to add to his fame. If Megan Kelly’s thing is going to be interviewing far right nuts who wouldn’t usually make it on network news, that does not feel like a recipe for success. Who’s the targeted demo here? This isn’t Fox News.

  11. A. Brophy says:

Me thinks some smart cookie at NBC is beginning to realize that hiring Kelly was a colossal blunder.

Wait til she appears on NBC’s morning show and see those ratings drop like a rock. People just don’t like her. But few people like arrogant, self-promoting hacks with no talent.

    • Apres says:

Couldn’t have said it better myself! She’s not Baba Wawa (Barbara Walters) or any of the other reporters who could knock her off just by lifting their little fingers.

Hope NBC has a GOOD OUT CLAUSE!

  12. A. Brophy says:

People tuned out Kelly’s show because they learned in week 1 that Cupcake can’t deliver the goods. It’s like going to a 4th of July fireworks show where the entire show consists of someone shooting off a bottle rocket – the anticipation and hype are high, but the performance is a dud.

The NBC blockheads who hired Kelly will conclude people weren’t interested in hearing Jones. That may or may not be true. But the unambiguously correct conclusion is people don’t want to hear Kelly.

The delusional Cupcake dismisses criticism as “bus exhaust.” A pity, since she’ll never learn how much work she needs to do to become even a mediocre journalist.

  13. Skeptic says:

Why did NBC hire this imbecile? I know, it seemed like Trump had a large fan base at the time of her hire, but she had turned those people off already by attracting his criticism. And Trump, as well as Fox News, has a very old demographic to begin with, not the under -49 set that network TV looks for. NBC is so clueless, and people have to pay higher cable rates for their stupidity. Comcast owns them, and in many parts of the country, they are the only cable and internet provider. Megyn is a waste of money and time.

  14. Peter Myers says:

Earth to Kelly: golf is more interesting to the American people than you are, Kelly. Why don’t you drive Uber or something?

  15. fakeNews says:

How long will Megyn Kelly last?

    • Apres says:

      AMEN on that last sentence!

    • A. Brophy says:

NBC will keep Cupcake on to avoid admitting what a horrific blunder they made in hiring her. But pretty soon she’ll be covering the birth of a panda at the zoo or interviewing the Geico mascot a la Chelsea Clinton.

Maybe Cupcake can go on Howard Stern’s show to talk about her boobs again – that oughta create some buzz before her next “interview.”

  16. cmsfl says:

Kelly lost to a rerun of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (0.7, 3.7 million) on ABC😂😂😂😂

  17. Sam says:

    To Megan Kelly, girl bye.

  18. who in his/her right mind would want to listen to the head of infowars? we get enough lying from the white house. this guy should get no publicity. what’s wrong with network tv?

    • A. Brophy says:

People didn’t want to hear Kelly – she proved in her much-hyped interview with Putin that she can’t deliver the goods and is way over her head.

If a journalist had interviewed Jones, instead of a bleached-blonde Cupcake, last night’s show probably wouldn’t have been a ratings disaster.
